These Terms of Service apply to services provided by Tech Girl Brisbane, including in-home technology support, personalised technology lessons, group workshops and related technology assistance.

By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

2. Our Services

Tech Girl Brisbane provides technology assistance, troubleshooting, education and guidance based on the information available at the time of the service.

We will use reasonable care and skill when providing our services.

Technology problems can sometimes have multiple causes, and it may not always be possible to diagnose or resolve a problem during a single appointment.

We do not guarantee that every technology issue can be resolved, that every device can be repaired or restored, or that every third-party account or service can be recovered or made accessible.

If we believe a problem requires specialist repair, manufacturer support, an internet or telecommunications provider, an account provider or another professional service, we may recommend that the client contact an appropriate provider.

3. Appointments and Bookings

Appointments are subject to availability and are confirmed once a date and time have been agreed between Tech Girl Brisbane and the client.

Clients are responsible for providing accurate information about their location and, where reasonably possible, the technology issue or assistance required.

This helps us prepare appropriately for the appointment.

Appointment times are estimates and may occasionally be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including traffic, delays at an earlier appointment or unforeseen circumstances.

If we expect to be significantly delayed, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you.

4. Fees and Payment

Our current standard service rate is $80 per hour, plus any applicable call-out or travel fee advised to you.

Different rates may apply to certain services, longer appointments, packaged lessons, workshops, travel outside our standard service area or other specially arranged services.

Where a call-out or travel fee applies, we will endeavour to advise you before confirming the appointment.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due following completion of the service or within the timeframe stated on an invoice.

Prices displayed on our website or promotional material may change from time to time. The applicable price will generally be the price agreed or advertised when the service is booked.

Tech Girl Brisbane is not currently registered for GST. Accordingly, GST is not currently added to our service charges. If our GST registration status changes in the future, our pricing and these Terms may be updated accordingly.

5. Appointment Duration

Services may be charged according to the time spent providing assistance.

Where an hourly rate applies, the total cost will depend on the duration of the appointment and any applicable call-out or travel fee.

Where possible, we will let you know if an issue appears likely to require substantially more time than originally anticipated.

The client may ask us to stop work at any time. Fees may still apply for services already provided and time already spent.

6. Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that plans change.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide as much notice as reasonably possible.

Tech Girl Brisbane reserves the right to introduce or apply a reasonable cancellation fee where an appointment is cancelled with insufficient notice, particularly where time has been specifically reserved and we are unable to fill the appointment.

Any cancellation fee that applies will be communicated to the client and will be reasonable having regard to the circumstances.

No cancellation fee will be imposed where doing so would be inconsistent with your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

If Tech Girl Brisbane needs to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and arrange another suitable time.

7. Access to Devices and Accounts

To provide technology support, you may need to allow Tech Girl Brisbane access to your device, settings, applications, files or online accounts.

We will only access areas reasonably necessary to perform the service you have requested.

Where passwords, PINs, authentication codes or other credentials are required, we encourage clients to enter these themselves wherever practical.

You should never provide us with banking PINs, card PINs or other financial security credentials that are not reasonably necessary for the service being provided.

If credentials are temporarily provided to us for a legitimate support purpose, they will be treated confidentially and should not be retained beyond what is reasonably necessary to provide that service.

8. Client Privacy and Confidentiality

Because technology support sometimes involves access to personal devices, we may incidentally see private information such as emails, photographs, contacts, files, messages or account information.

We will treat information encountered while providing services confidentially and will only access information to the extent reasonably necessary to provide the requested assistance.

Further information about how we handle personal information is contained in the Tech Girl Brisbane Privacy Policy.

9. Backups and Data

Technology troubleshooting can sometimes involve changes to devices, software, settings, accounts, storage or files.

Clients are encouraged to maintain current backups of important photographs, documents, contacts, emails and other information.

Where a service could reasonably involve a significant risk to stored data, we may recommend that a backup be created before proceeding.

We will take reasonable care when working with your devices and information.

However, data can be lost or corrupted for reasons outside our control, including existing hardware faults, failing storage devices, software errors, account problems, malware, synchronisation issues or third-party service failures.

Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

10. Existing Problems and Device Condition

Tech Girl Brisbane is not responsible for faults, damage, data loss, security issues or other problems that existed before our service began or that arise independently of the services we provide.

Clients should tell us about known problems with a device, account or service where that information may be relevant to the work requested.

If we discover a significant issue during an appointment, we will explain it to you where reasonably possible before undertaking additional work.

11. Third-Party Products and Services

Technology support frequently involves products and services provided by third parties, including device manufacturers, telecommunications providers, internet providers, email providers, software developers, cloud-storage providers, streaming services, banks and government services.

Tech Girl Brisbane does not control these third-party services.

Their availability, pricing, functionality, security procedures, account-recovery processes and terms may change without notice.

We are not responsible for outages, changes, restrictions, account suspensions or other actions taken by third-party providers.

Where we assist you in dealing with a third-party service, our role is to provide assistance and guidance. We cannot guarantee that the third party will provide a particular outcome.

12. Software, Applications and Subscriptions

If you ask us to assist with installing software, applications or subscription services, you remain responsible for reviewing and accepting the relevant provider's terms, fees and privacy policies.

We will not intentionally purchase a paid product or subscription on your behalf without your authorisation.

Any ongoing subscription fees or charges imposed by third-party providers are the client's responsibility.

13. Account Recovery

We may assist clients with recovering access to accounts such as email, Apple, Google, Microsoft, social media or other online services.

Account recovery is ultimately controlled by the relevant provider.

Tech Girl Brisbane cannot guarantee that an account will be recovered, particularly where passwords, recovery information, security codes or other required information are unavailable.

We will not attempt to bypass legitimate security protections or access an account where the client is not authorised to do so.

14. Online Safety and Scam Assistance

Tech Girl Brisbane may provide education and general assistance relating to scams, suspicious messages, online safety and digital security.

This assistance is intended to help clients understand technology and make more informed decisions.

We cannot guarantee that a device, account, message, website or person is completely safe, secure or legitimate.

Where fraud, identity theft, financial loss or serious security compromise is suspected, we may recommend contacting the relevant bank, service provider, government agency, police or other appropriate organisation.

15. Financial, Legal and Government Services

Tech Girl Brisbane provides technology assistance rather than financial, legal, accounting or government advice.

For example, we may help a client navigate a website, use an application, upload a document or understand how to access an online service.

The client remains responsible for decisions made using those services and for checking that information submitted is accurate.

Where professional advice is required, clients should seek assistance from an appropriately qualified professional or the relevant organisation.

16. Purchases Made During an Appointment

Where a client chooses to purchase equipment, software, subscriptions or services following our assistance or recommendation, the purchase is generally between the client and the relevant retailer or provider.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Tech Girl Brisbane does not act as the seller of third-party products and does not control the warranties, refund policies or performance of those products.

Any recommendation we provide will be based on the information available to us and the client's stated needs, but the final purchasing decision remains with the client.

17. Lessons and Training

Technology lessons provided by Tech Girl Brisbane are personalised according to the client's needs, experience and available devices.

We aim to explain technology clearly and patiently, but learning outcomes will vary between individuals.

We cannot guarantee that a client will remember or independently perform every skill covered during a lesson.

Clients are encouraged to practise the skills they learn and keep any notes or learning materials provided.

18. Group Workshops

Group workshops are educational in nature and are designed to provide general technology information and practical guidance.

The content may be adapted according to the needs, experience and interests of participants.

Where a workshop is arranged through another organisation, additional arrangements or terms agreed between Tech Girl Brisbane and that organisation may also apply.

Workshop participants should avoid publicly sharing passwords, financial information or other sensitive personal information during group sessions.

19. Respectful and Safe Environment

Tech Girl Brisbane is committed to providing friendly and respectful service.

We expect clients and other people present during appointments to provide a reasonably safe and respectful working environment.

We reserve the right to decline, stop or leave an appointment if we reasonably believe there is a risk to personal safety, threatening or abusive behaviour, unlawful activity or another situation that makes it inappropriate or unsafe to continue.

Where a service is stopped for these reasons, reasonable charges may apply for work already completed and time already spent, subject to applicable law.

20. Unlawful or Unauthorised Assistance

Tech Girl Brisbane will not knowingly assist with activities that are unlawful or that involve unauthorised access to another person's device, account, information or communications.

We may decline a request if we have reasonable concerns about whether the client is authorised to access a device or account.

21. Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Among other things, services must generally be provided with due care and skill and be reasonably fit for any purpose that you make known to us where the relevant legal requirements are satisfied.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

If there is a problem with a service we have provided, please contact us so we can discuss the issue and an appropriate remedy.

22. Liability

Tech Girl Brisbane will take reasonable care and skill when providing services.

To the extent permitted by law, Tech Girl Brisbane is not responsible for loss or damage caused by matters outside our reasonable control, including pre-existing device faults, hardware failure, third-party service outages, changes made by third-party providers, malware, compromised accounts or actions taken by the client or another person.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability arising under applicable provisions of the Australian Consumer Law.

23. Information on Our Website

We aim to keep information on the Tech Girl Brisbane website accurate and current.

Technology, software, devices, online services and third-party procedures change frequently. As a result, information published on the website may occasionally become outdated.

Website content is provided as general information and should not be relied upon as professional financial, legal or other specialist advice.

24. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original Tech Girl Brisbane website content, educational materials, handouts, graphics, branding and other original materials remain the intellectual property of Tech Girl Brisbane.

Materials provided to clients for personal learning may be used for their own personal purposes but should not be reproduced, sold, published or commercially distributed without permission.

Third-party trademarks, logos, images, software and other materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used subject to applicable rights and licences.

25. Privacy

Our collection and handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy should be read together with these Terms where relevant.

26. Complaints and Concerns

If you are unhappy with a service provided by Tech Girl Brisbane, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We want clients to feel comfortable raising concerns and will make reasonable efforts to understand the issue and reach an appropriate resolution.

Nothing in this section affects any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes to our services, pricing, business practices or legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on the Tech Girl Brisbane website and will show the date it was last updated.

For an existing confirmed booking, we will not retrospectively impose a material new term that unfairly disadvantages the client.

28. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

Nothing in this clause limits any rights a consumer may have under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory legislation.
